Fly Fishing

Seasonal. Best from October to April

Crystal clear mountain rivers and streams await. Fly fishing trips in the Central Otago and Queenstown area will introduce you to some of the best and most remote New Zealand fly fishing waters. Private guides will take you into areas of magnificent scenery, majestic mountains, beech forest, crystal clear mountain rivers and streams. Amongst all this, you’ll stalk and cast to sighted brown or rainbow trout.


Queenstown is famous for some of the great walks The Milford Track, The Routeburn Track or the Hollyford Track. However there are also many fabulous day walks in the Queenstown & surrounding areas for all activity & fitness levels. More info in Parks & Recreation.

Milford Sound

Milford Sound (Piopiotahi in Māori) is a fjord in the south west of New Zealand’s South Island, within Fiordland National Park and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It has been judged the world’s top travel destination in an international survey and is acclaimed as New Zealand’s most famous tourist destination. By road, Milford Sound is 295 km from Queenstown  (a four + hours’ drive) there are coach tours available daily, as well as options to fly by fixed wing aircraft or helicopter.


Queenstown possesses some of New Zealand’s most breathtaking golf and has a style of course to suit the desires of any keen player. From the pristine fairways of New Zealand’s first resort course at Millbrook, to the stunning new Jacks Point course under the Remarkable mountain range, Queenstown has become a golfers dream destination.

The Queenstown Golf Club at Kelvin Heights, considered one of the most scenic courses in the world. Arrowtown Golf Club, alive with local history and character, and of course The Hills, home to the New Zealand Open tournament and arguably New Zealand’s finest course. There are few places anywhere that boast as many spectacular courses as Queenstown.

Queenstown is famous for its fabulous wine & food culture. There are over 150 eateries in Queenstown & Central Otago is famous for its award winning wine. With something for everyone from a humble hamburger to fine dining, Queenstown will offer you something delicious.

Arts & Culture

Queenstown offers fabulous Art & Culture, there are a number of fabulous galleries in Downtown Queenstown, as well as an arts trail where you are able to go & meet the Artist at their studio. Every Saturday morning a craft market at Queenstown’s lake-edged Steamer Wharf offers all sorts of artisan products from traditional greenstone carved necklaces to hand-painted ceramics. There is a Maori culture display “Kiwi Haka” held nightly at the Skyline Gondola.

Adrenaline Activities

Queenstown is billed at the Adventure Capital of the world & it truly does offer a fabulous selection of Adelaine activities. From Bungy Jumping, swings, Sky diving, white water rafting, paragliding, hand gliding, river surfing, canyoning, aerobatics to flying fox, there really is something for everyone.

Jet boating

There is fabulous choice in Queenstown for Jet boating, a trip for everyone from the action packed 30 minute Shotover Jet to the scenic & stunning Dart River Safari, each trip offers its own unique prospective of the area with different views & vistas.

Skiing & Snowboarding

Coronet Peak is around 25 minutes from Azur and is an easy drive on sealed roads. The Remarkables is around a 45 minutes drive. Cardrona Valley and the Snow Park area are around a 1 hours drive. Treble Cone is around 1 hr 45 minutes drive. The Harris Mountains and Buchanans Ranges heli-ski areas are each around a 25 minutes flight, and the Mt. Cook heli-ski area is about a 40 minutes flight.

Depending on snowfall, the fields can open as early as the beginning of June and all are normally open by the end of June. The season can run into October, but will generally close sometime in the last half of September. The best powder is generally in July and August, but can fall at any time of the season. All skiing and snow boarding gear and equipment can be hired.

Snowmobiling or Snow Shoeing
